ITAMAR  SIANI

 

Itamar Siani, a known artist established many years ago an important position as a painter, was born in 1941 in Sana'a, the capital of Yemen. He, his mother and his three brothers immigrated to Israel in 1949 in the big operation of saving Yemen Jews - "Magic Carpet."

 

 

Itamar was educated in a youth village "Meir Shfeya" near

the town "Zichron Yaakov" for 7 years. There, his talent for

painting was obvious and won the support of educators and

teachers who encouraged him to devote himself to painting. 

On he's talent stand known painters: Marcel Yankee famous

painters, Moshe centers, deer Meirovitch, Yaacov Agam,

Professor Joseph Schwartzman and John Simon.

 

In 1968 Itamar accepted to London University, Goldsmiths

College of Art with the help of lady Wolfson.

At the end of the course in college, Itamar continued to

live in London for 4 years and focused on creating a series

of rare engravings called "Magic Carpet" exhaustive the

process of immigration of Yemenite Jews. Today you can

find copies of engravings album collections at the Israel

Museum in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv Museum Chicago Museum

The most important series of paintings of Itamar that expressed in color the Yemenite Jews culminating rise impressive and most important, is the painting known today as "life story" which is considered Israel's art work set by the class of immigration from Yemen to Israel, representing essentially the entire process with Israel's return to his country. This is a rare painting of ten long meters on three meters height. This painted canvas is considered one of the greatest fabrics painted in the country. Itamar went to this huge work when he was 35. Due to the begin implementing one of the most important works in his life. His work on this rare work lasted thirty years, from 1977 to 2007.

 

Over the years, Itamar introduced numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions selected.
On 3 April 2004 exhibit Itamar Center Art Exhibition at the Center Meirov Holon - "painting without a frame. The exhibition opened an Israel Prize laureate Menashe Kadishman which he said the following:" Itamar Siani is a cultural asset - a wonderful artist, a true artist who gives up his search for new expressions, constantly evolving and researcher. In 1970, with completion of his studies in London, presented a solo exhibition Gallery Itamar "charming" in London provoked controversy: young teachers and students Goldsmith - College realists opposed the fabric content - academic, while teachers and administrators from other universities in London have expressed great appreciation for this kind of artistic works, that showed impressive technical capabilities of the famous painting artists.

That same year, won Itamar to represent the Israeli art exhibition held at the Museum Merida, Spain. He was the first Israeli artist solo exhibitions in Spain at the time of Franco's ruling.
